What is Careportal?

Careportal is a powerful tool for connecting those in our community with needs to those in the church with resources. Through Careportal, churches are able to connect with families in need and meet tangible needs of all kinds, supporting kids in the foster care system, or in many cases, providing intervening support to keep them out of the foster care system.

How does it work?

Simple! When a caseworker with one of the various Oklahoma foster and adoption agencies has a family with a need, they can publish a request on the Careportal. When these requests come in, an email is sent to any enrolled respondents with details about the situation, the specific need, how it will serve the family, and how many children are served. Those interested in assisting can then respond to the request either with direct tangible support, or as a prayer partner.

A Few Stats to Consider

  • Each year, child protection agencies in the US are alerted to over 7 million children suffering mistreatment.

  • These reports have resulted in over 400,000 children being removed from their homes and placed in an already overburdened foster care system.

  • 76% of children in the child welfare system have experienced neglect

  • 50% of homeless, 60% of child trafficking victims, and over 75% of the prison population have spent time in foster care.

  • The US Government spends over $30 billion annually operating the foster care system
